Saving paper and money (commonsense)

When I was doing a secretarial course which included learning to type on a typewriter, I did one of the specified exercises, which involved formatting a long business letter. The teacher said that I had done it well, but that it should not have been continued on the back of the paper, but on a second sheet of paper.  I have always thought that was idiotic. What a waste of trees.  Blessed Mary MacKillop of Australia had an interesting approach.  She wrote her letter down the page (in the portrait position) and then turned the paper to a landscape position and wrote the rest of the letter across it!  This would have been a bit of a problem for the reader, but she was a very neat writer and it could be read.  Later on she also learnt to type on a typewriter. No doubt she did her double writing technique on the back of the paper also.

She was a greenie before greenies existed!  Now I hear that the USA wants to save money in order to pay for their immoral health scheme, (which has everything tied to abortion)  so one of the government departments there is saving money by using both sides of the paper!  It is amazing that it took them so long to think of something so simple!

Why a business lost my business

I have already made a post on this blog about why some shops lost my business. Now I am going to tell you why a business lost my business.  I needed an eye test and due to circumstances beyond my control was forced to cancel the appointment three times, however I made sure that I let the optometrist shop know in advance. When I cancelled the third time (over the phone), I asked the girl to make me a new appointment.  She refused and delivered me a condensing lecture, then she told me to make an appointment on the morning that I needed the test. I was so upset with this unexpected rudeness and told her that I had not cancelled for trivial reasons. It made no difference to her. I did not want to go back there.  My health fund also runs a similar shop and I took my business there. The first shop has lost a lifelong customer and a considerable amount of money, because I will never bother with them again on account of this horrid employee. When I told the optometrist at the shop run by my health fund what had happened at the first shop, he was astounded at the rude way that they dealt with me.

Why some shops lost my business

There are a few shops who lost my business because of their own stupidity.  The first one was a take-away shop that sold me a cooked chicken that was definitely off. Another take-away shop assistant left me waiting for nearly an hour while he cooked fish, chips, hamburgers, etc. for many customers who placed their orders after mine!  It was January l and when I left that shop I was crying.  Another shop assistant took my order for coffee and then talked to another customer for ages before bringing me the coffee.

A real dopey business practice regarding billing

I changed cable net TV providers.  The final bill was, wait for it:  5 cents!  I went to Australia Post to pay the bill.  There was a 55 cent handling charge.  The lady at the counter could not stop laughing. I company that sent me the bill had to pay 55 cents for the postage to say nothing of the other costs.  Why do

Corporations act in this absurd way?
